CASE STUDY / INTERACTIVE HERITAGE

THE EXPERIENCE
ONE SHOT · TEN DIPS · FIVE PIGMENTS
FROM OBSERVATION TO COLOUR
The experience begins with a 3D catboat. Visitors rotate and zoom the model, read its construction notes, then try to recreate Catboat Blue from a limited palette.
Paint the Catboat slows the player down before asking them to act: first study the boat, then build a colour recipe from White, Sky Blue, Deep Blue, Sea Green and Navy.
Each tap adds one dip to the mixing pot. After ten dips, the recipe is locked and applied to the hull.
The reveal compares the player’s mix with the reference colour, gives a match score and creates a result designed to be shared.
Rotate and zoom a simplified 3D catboat while reading the construction notes.
Choose ten dips from five pigments and commit to one colour recipe.
Compare the two hulls, receive a match score and share the attempt.
VISUAL LANGUAGE
The visual system is drawn from boat plans and maritime workshop notes rather than a literal museum reconstruction. Catboat Blue carries the interaction; Sailcloth and White Sheer keep the canvas light; Deep Ink anchors the typography and construction lines; Sea Glass softens secondary surfaces. A measured grid, restrained type, rounded swatches and a side-by-side reveal make the act of mixing feel like a compact colour study.
Colours are artistic interpretations, the match score is for entertainment only. Learn more from the Cayman Islands Catboat Club.
